-EQUITABLE USE-
Universal Design is a concept of design which avoids restrictive building codes and/or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, by incorporating inclusive structures that are more usable by everyone, regardless of their abilities or limitations.

The world we live in today is vast and full of technology and constantly growing. However not everyone is able to have the same experience as others when it comes to lots of things. Equitable Use is important in the classroom especially now with online classes being so popular, due to everyone having different circumstances at home. There are going to be people who do not have the same computer systems, and some people don’t even have a computer. By having Equitable Use allows everyone to get the same experience and education all around. Equitable use is most important when it comes to accessibility. Always make sure no one is left out on the sidelines or feeling out of place. For instance handicap accessibility. Try to not have a separate entrance or ramp, make sure you are offering a flat surface with a wide enough entrance so everyone can use it.
Follow these steps for the proper Equitable Use guidelines.
- Provide the same means and use for all users. Identically whenever possible, equivalent when not.
- Avoid segregating or stigmatizing any users
- Make provisions for privacy, security, and safety equally available to all users
- Make the design appealing to all users
